Internet Installs
TSetup 3.00 will support Internet-based installs. The Internet-based
install will work regardless of which browser you are using.
For an Internet install, TSetup will build a small EXE that can be downloaded
via a web browser. The small EXE will contain an copy of the setup program
that you design, but it will not contain any of the distribution files.
The small EXE will start the setup program on the user's system. The setup
program will allow the user to setup the install - but instead of copying the
files from an archive, hard drive, floppy drive, or CD, the files will be
downloaded from the Internet using the HTTP protocol. Only the files that
are needed for the install will be downloaded; any unneeded files will not be
downloaded.
For an Internet install to work - the computer that is performing the install must
be connected to the Internet. Installs are not yet supported on isolated Intranets
or smaller TCP/IP networks. This is not due to a design flaw or inability - this is
done to ensure version compatibility during the TSetup 3.00 beta program. If you're
very interested in testing an isolated network version, please contact me.
